06/09/2010:

Convention season is underway here in unseasonably gray and drizzly California, and I'm going to be racing here, there, and everywhere for the foreseeable future. Keep an eye on the Appearances menu to find out when I might be visiting your area.

My earlier email issues are continuing. If you don't hear back from me, I probably can't reply to your message. May I suggest the forums as an alternative?

If you're looking for Mira Grant, whose first book, Feed, was just released by Orbit, I suggest you turn your attention a bit further afield. Both Mira and I will be appearing at the San Diego International Comic Convention, but I bet we're never seen in the same room...

Curious about the Campbell Award? Check out this handy web-comic for the details! Thanks to Cat Valente and Vixy for their tolerant assistance.

04/14/2010:

Hey, folks—

My email provider is still experiencing blacklist issues with some major ISPs. This includes att.net. If you are sending email to me from att.net, I cannot respond. I'm not ignoring you; your provider is rejecting my mail. Please try the forums.

In other news, I have a new short story up at Apex Magazine, "Dying With Her Cheer Pants On," and a poem titled "Ever After Variations" in the latest issue of Goblin Fruit. Chicks Dig Time Lords from Mad Norwegian Press includes my essay "Mathematical Excellence: A Documentary." And, of course, I have several upcoming appearances (California, Ohio), and I'm still nominated for the Campbell Award (which is a constant GOTO loop at the back of my brain).

Happy April!

04/04/2010:

I am honored and delighted to announce that I have been nominated for the 2010 Campbell Award for Best New Writer. This is just unbelievable for me, and I couldn't be more excited. (Plus, if I win, I get a tiara in Australia. Which is basically like being crowned Princess of the Land of Poison and Flame, at least from where I'm sitting.) I am really overjoyed right now.

In site news, a new story is up in the "Velveteen vs." section, and the new Fairy Tale and Ballad Survival FAQ will be going live any day now. Please let me know if you have any questions or encounter any issues with the new content, and have a great April!
